Dear [Member Title and Name]:

My name is [First Name Last Name]. I am from [City, State], and I was a [Insert organization/role/background]. With the support of the U.S. Government, my programs helped [insert personal story].

International basic education programs play a critical role in making America safer, stronger, and more prosperous. These programs equip young people with essential skills, reduce instability, and create economic opportunities that benefit both the United States and its allies. Targeted investments in education contribute to stronger diplomatic ties, reduce migration pressures, and create trading partners— reinforcing U.S. leadership in an era of growing geopolitical competition.

Unfortunately, the indiscriminate cuts to foreign assistance have now cost 140,179 global jobs and an additional 15,596 American jobs have been lost due to the abrupt and senseless termination of U.S. foreign aid programs. I ask you to stand with your constituents and publicly urge the Administration to:

  1. Halt and reverse all terminations of active foreign assistance programs,

  2. Ensure the disbursement of both FY 2024 and FY 2025 Congressionally appropriated funding, in line with Congress’s power of the purse, and

  3. Include education as a critical component of any future USAID/State structure.

  4. Implement the legislative requirements of the Reinforcing Education Accountability in Development (READ) Act, of which Secretary Marco Rubio was a co-author.

There is still time to speak out publicly to reverse the dismantling of foreign assistance. I appreciate your leadership on this important issue and look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
[Your City, State]
